About Sachin Akalekar

Sachin Akalekars practice emerges from an intimate, lived relationship with rural memory and the quiet spiritual symbolism embedded within everyday life. Raised in an agrarian landscape in Maharashtra, the artist approaches the figure of the bull particularly Nandi not as mythology or spectacle, but as a deeply personal presence shaped by labour, companionship, and silence. Working in acrylics and mixed media, Akalekar builds richly layered surfaces where texture becomes emotion and stillness becomes narrative. His paintings transform the bull into a meditative vessel carrying temples, fields, symbols, and lived histories, creating a visual language that bridges folk sensibilities with a contemporary palette. Rooted yet forward-looking, his work speaks of continuity, ecological awareness, and the enduring bond between nature, culture, and inner strength.
