About Jayashree Chakravarty

Jayashree Chakravarty is a Kolkata based Indian visual artist, working with mixed media canvases, using organic material & paper for her large scale paper installations reminiscent of cave paintings. Chakravarty's autobiographical and surreal works explore concepts such as nature, harmony, and truth. Influenced by the transformation of the lush jungles of her childhood home into concrete townships, her works reflect the discordant relationship between humans and nature, creating fluid and transparent images that lend themselves to multiple interpretations.
